Seasonal Adult Education

During the holy seasons of Advent and/or Lent, our Pastor often offers an adult education class to explore faith questions as we prepare ourselves for pivotal moments in the Liturgical Year. Kerygma study programs are of particular interest. These are adult education courses that focus on scripture and extend to other areas of faith and life. Kerygma emphasizes structure, active participation, and a cumulative approach—building and progressing as we study together. Participants provide input on topics of interest.

Pilgrim has also offered four to six week small group programs exploring The Bible and Handel’s Messiah during Advent and Lent, as well as Lord, Teach Us to Pray (on the Lord’s Prayer) during Lent. You are welcome to join us for these adult education seasonal offerings.

Lauren's Sabbatical Presentation: Sunday December 4 after Worship
Posted: Nov 9 2016 - 10:55am

On Sunday December 4 immediately following worship, I will be giving a presentation about my Sabbatical trip to the Holy Land. I spent the month of July at the Tantur Ecumenical Institute in Jerusalem. Tantur's program wove classroom instruction in Old and New Testament, Biblical Geography, History of the Middle East, and Spirituality with guided tours of religious and historical sites. Tantur also introduced me to the people of the land--Jews, Christians, and Muslims--as we walked in the footsteps of Jesus and met with people currently living in the land he once called home. It will be wonderful to share some of what I learned, so please grab your coffee and a snack and head downstairs on December 4 to hear more! ~Lauren
